One day, shortly after they had moved into their house in Texas, Wen and her husband bought ten rosebushes. Their plan was to spruce up their new backyard with a rose garden.
They set the rose bushes in a row next to the house in the backyard because they weren’t going to have time to plant them until the next weekend and every night when they got home from graduate school, Wen checked on them and watered them.
Five days later, the night before planting day, Wen went out to do her nightly check and what did she find? Ten empty plastic pots were lying on the ground along with dirt everywhere and what was left of ten shredded rose bushes.
Evidently, Casey, who had not paid any attention to the rose bushes all week, had gone out his doggie door as per usual, but this time he had attacked the rose bushes with a shredding frenzy. There was barely any plant material left, so Wen and her husband discussed the situation as they cleaned up the mess and decided to scrub the whole rose garden idea for a while, due to Scottie interference. If it happened once, chances were good that it would happen again and Casey obviously needed something more appropriate to play with during the day!
