Late Night Walks

When Kirby was a little puppy, Wen decided to be super diligent about his house training during the night.  Every time he made a peep, she got up and took him out in the backyard, which ended up being about every two hours all night long.

They spent more late night quality time in the backyard than she had ever spent with any previous dogs, but she really wanted to reinforce his house training well.

One night as she was star gazing while Kirby cruised around the yard, Wen happened to look over at the next door neighbor’s house and there was a giant owl perched on the roof staring back at her.  She scooped up Kirby and took him inside because her little puppy was not about to be an owl’s dinner!

The owl remained at its rooftop post for several nights, so Wen kept Kirby’s outside time to a minimum until the owl was finally gone, but the late night house training routine continued for months until she realized that Kirby probably didn’t need to go out so often and she needed a good night’s sleep!

A few years later when Sunny came along, Wen decided that it was time to revise the house training plan and she kept Sunny up late, took her out once, and that was it for the night.  Sunny always slept through the night and it worked out just fine.  Thank goodness, the late night walks weren’t necessary any more!
