Wen had a special bond with Kirby, her all-time favorite Scottie. They were best buddies and together they lived through some really tough times, so it was as though Kirby understood.
Every time that Wen played the piano, Kirby stretched out on one particular arm of the loveseat and she could see him there listening as she worked on her piano arrangements and compositions.
One day, Wen had an idea. She would write a special arrangement of one of her favorite songs for Kirby. “You Are My Sunshine” would be a perfect song for him because it represented exactly what he meant to her.
Kirby was at his post on the arm of the loveseat each time that Wen worked on her arrangement and in a few days, after she had rewritten the music many times and changed the words to fit, the arrangement was finally finished to her satisfaction.
“You Are My Sunshine” was special while Kirby was alive, but now that he is gone, it has become even more meaningful, because he truly was her sunshine and when Wen sits down at the piano to play Kirby’s song, it still seems as though he is listening at his post on the loveseat.
