Little Sadie finally had her big spay day at our favorite veterinary clinic the other day. Everything went just fine, but she was very happy to see Wen and go home after her procedure.
As soon as she arrived back home though she had a big shock. Wen put an Elizabethan collar or “the cone of shame” on Sadie and she didn’t know how to react other than knowing for sure that she didn’t like it!
Sadie tried to paw the collar off with her front feet and when she realized that it was a futile attempt, she started backing up—all around the room. Evidently, going backwards was easier than forwards at the time.
After she finally settled down, Wen fed her, gave her water, took her outside, and settled her in a cage with a plush crate pad and lots of comfy towels, right in the middle of the living room so she could be with everybody else, but still restricted from too much activity.
Clearly, Sadie was not pleased with her post-surgery situation, but she resigned herself to being confined with a cone on her head and she found a comfortable position and fell asleep.
Sadie’s big day was a huge success and 24 hours later, she was back to being her usual rowdy self.
