There have been just two of us Scotties in the MacDuff clan who have been what you could say, “beard challenged.” The first one was Wen’s favorite Scottie, Kirby, who as a puppy had a nice hair coat, but his beard was very slow to grow, so she agonized for months that he would never have a nice looking beard.
The second was me, Riley, who was a member of a short-haired litter. It actually took about a year for my more coarse hair coat to look decent and Wen thought that my beard would never grow in.
Kirby ended up with a good looking although slightly thin beard, while mine is a little more on the scraggly side and not as long, but at least it’s presentable. More importantly, even though Kirby and I were beard challenged, both of us turned out to have great personalities. After all, looks aren’t everything! (Okay, unless maybe you’re a show dog.)
