The Scottie Specialty

One summer when it was time for the Scottish Terrier specialty show to be held in Greeley, Colorado, the organizers from the Scottish Terrier Club of Greater Denver invited people from the Rocky Mountain Scottish Terrier Club to bring their Scotties and participate in the the parade of Scotties at the end of the show.

Wen decided to go and take Kirby because he had been recently groomed and although he wasn’t a show dog, he looked good and he knew how to behave.

Kirby sat on Wen’s lap during the dog show judging and to her surprise, several handlers came up to them and complimented Kirby.

At the end of the show, it was time for the parade and everyone was invited to walk their Scotties around the ring.  Upon leaving the ring, every dog was presented with a huge rosette ribbon for participating in the parade.

It was a fun experience for Wen and Kirby that day at the Scottie specialty and receiving a ribbon was an unexpected bonus.  Although Kirby would never be a show dog, he had walked around the ring just as though he was one and Wen was as proud of her favorite dog as if he had just won best in show.
