It’s interesting that the words we Scotties recognize and understand the most seem to rhyme with each other. We probably understand more words and phrases and the tone with which they are said, but there are four phrases that stand out as the most meaningful:
1. “Are you ready to EAT?”
2. “Do you want a TREAT?”
3. “Let’s go OUTSIDE.”
4. “Do you want to go for a RIDE?”
I guess you could say that we three Scotties have a limited but very meaningful vocabulary and oh, yes, there is one particular word, used by itself, that is extremely familiar to us because we all learned it well as puppies: “NO!”
Some days it seems as though “no” is Wen’s favorite word, but it’s definitely not ours. We would rather hear words that are associated with our very favorite thing: FOOD!
