Welcome Home

When Wen and her husband first lived in Colorado, Casey, Buffy, and Poo were left loose in the house while they were at work during the day.  In the evening, when Wen would get home from work, she would see Poo sitting in the upstairs guest bedroom window waiting for her.

It seemed that Poo had developed a routine.  Every afternoon, she would sit on the bed and watch out the window for Wen to come home and when she drove into the driveway, Poo would jump down and then run to the door to greet her.

This was the beginning of what turned out to be a life-long tradition for Poo.  She always knew Wen’s schedule and no matter which house they lived in, there she would be, sitting in a window, waiting for Wen to come home.

The next house they moved to had a couch by the living room window, so Poo could jump up and perch on the back of the couch, which gave her the height to look out the window as she waited.

After that house, the next one they lived in was even more convenient for Poo to watch out the window as the living room window had a wide ledge that was large enough for a person to sit on, so Poo could easily jump up there and sit as she waited.

As the years went by, Poo never changed her afternoon ritual.  Their next house had a huge picture window in the living room with two conveniently located chairs, so Poo could sit comfortably on a chair as she waited.  Since she spent so much time at the window, Wen decided to substitute an older chair that Poo had pretty much claimed years ago at their first house so that a nicer chair wouldn’t be ruined over time.  “The Poo Chair,” as it was called, was not in the best condition and it definitely did not fit in with the decor, but it served its purpose as Poo’s favorite spot to hang out.

Wen always looked forward to seeing her little wheaten Scottie in the window after a long day at work and she knew that when she opened the door, Poo would be there with her tail happily wagging to welcome her home.
