All of our dog coats, sweaters, and holiday outfits and costumes are stored in the linen closet upstairs. The other day, the closet door was open while Wen was dusting the furniture and someone got into the costume bag and snatched Sunny’s green St. Patrick’s Day hat. (Okay, I confess—it was me.)
Wen didn’t realize that the hat had disappeared from the closet until several hours later when she went out in the backyard and noticed a green feather on the ground. The color of the feather was familiar and when she turned around, she saw a wad of something the exact same color lying on the ground next to the fence. Yes, it was a chewed up St. Patrick’s Day hat!
She threw the remains of the hat in the trash but didn’t say anything. I’m pretty sure though that she knew that I was the guilty party who snatched the hat from the closet and destroyed it. Dogs will be dogs, so things like that happen when the closet door is left open!
