Scottie Summer Fun (a poem by Riley with a little help from Wen)
We Scotties mostly cannot swim. Our short legs paddle, but we sink. Compared to dogs with longer legs, we need a life vest, don’t ya think?!
Our big heads and our solid bodies weigh us down in pools or lakes. We don’t mind water, that’s for sure, but supervision’s what it takes.
To keep us safe from watery harm, ‘cause we’re not like those swimming pros, those setters, spaniels, dogs that dive, retrievers, newfies, dogs like those.
But not to say we don’t enjoy a splashfest in a kiddie pool or chasing after sprinkler sprays which tend to keep us pretty cool.
And then there’s always lots of fun in biting water from a hose. We’ll chomp and snap to grab the stream to cool down from our nose to toes.
So for some Scottie summer fun a boat ride might just beat the heat. A swim may not be quite ideal, but we’ll sure take a frosty treat!!!
