When Wen and her two Scotties, Corky and Duffy, lived temporarily with her parents in Missouri, it seemed as though Duffy “adopted” Wen’s dad. He would sit beneath her dad’s desk for hours while he worked and as her dad went from room to room, Duffy would follow. It was almost as if Duffy thought that it was his job to watch over Wen’s dad and he was quite the loyal buddy.
Many times, Wen would actually find Duffy sitting outside a closed door to a room, waiting for her dad to come out. The two of them had a special bond and years later, when Wen brought Duffy along on a trip to Missouri to visit her parents, Duffy resumed his place at her dad’s side, even though by that time, her father was disabled and in a wheelchair.
They might have been separated for a few years, but Duffy recognized his friend and continued to stick right by him as if he had never left.
