A tornado blew through our town yesterday afternoon. Our house wasn’t directly in its path, but the high winds and hail did some damage to our house and tore off a huge part of a tree in our backyard, which landed on another tree. Water poured in our finished basement windows, so Wen spent hours with the shop vac getting as much as she could out of the carpet. Then she positioned four fans to blow onto the wet carpet. Next, she worked on the giant part of the tree that was stuck in the other tree. She worked until dark, cutting off limbs so that she could finally drag the huge limb, which was a third of the tree, out from the other tree. With the huge limb on the ground, she kept trimming off little limbs until the the pile of smaller limbs was gigantic. I suppose that she will spend today sawing and cutting up all the limbs into manageable piles for the trash.
The hail that we got with the tornado damaged the paint and the windows and there was one little leak from the roof, but the good news is that we are all okay. There may be a big clean-up, but we’re grateful that it wasn’t worse!
