No Missed Opportunities

When it comes to dog treats, we Scotties are super aware.  If we notice Wen moving toward our Milk-bones treat jar on the kitchen counter or opening a new box or bag of treats, we are right there, hoping to score a snack.

Let’s just say that we’d hate to miss an opportunity to grab something tasty.  Yep, there are no missed opportunities where treats are concerned.  Our Scottie ears are super tuned into any sound of food packaging and you can assure that all three of us will be right there to check out the possibility of snatching a yummy tidbit.

Let’s Go Avs!!!

After Sunday’s Avs game, Wen and her friend visited the team store at Ball Arena and along with hundreds of other fans, they did a little shopping.  Of course Wen found the section of Avs merchandise for dogs and she came home with something really cool:  a dog-sized Avs jersey (or sweater, as true hockey fans would call it).

Since we have all kinds of Avs memorabilia displayed at our house, it only seems appropriate that we Scotties can root for our favorite hockey team too while wearing a genuine Avs jersey.

Let’s Go Avs!!!

Last Blast

Yesterday was grooming day, so Wen took us Scotties to see Gigi, our groomer.  It was a gloomy rainy day and after we were dropped off, it started to snow and it wasn’t just a few flakes.  No, it was a full-fledged snowstorm and by the time that we were ready to go home, the highways were covered with slush and we had a long trip home in the snowstorm.

We arrived home to find about five inches of snow in our yard, but the snow eventually turned back into rain, which lasted for hours and got rid of some of the snow.

Just when we were hoping that it was finally spring, we were hit with one last blast of snow.  Well, we can hope it’s the last blast, but in Colorado, you never know!

National Pickleball Month

So we just found out that it’s National Pickleball Month and since Wen  has been playing pickleball for several years, we have lots of pickleball equipment at our house.

We Scotties like to watch when she practices and we sometimes chase after balls, but that’s pretty much how we’re involved in the sport.

Yesterday, however, Wen was surprised to find a pickleball toy for dogs when she was shopping, so of course she had to buy it for us.  It has a paddle and two balls, but I have a feeling that it may be for looks and photo shoots only, because if we Scotties had the chance, we would have that paddle and those balls shredded in about ten seconds and we’d win without even playing pickleball!

GO AVS GO!!!

It’s that time again!  The Stanley Cup playoffs have begun and our favorite hockey team, the Colorado Avalanche is now in the first round of the playoffs, so Wen got out her homemade Stanley Cup, as she does every year when the Avs are in the playoffs and put it up on the top of our refrigerator where the replica Stanley Cup popcorn maker and the big foam Avs emblem are displayed all year round.  She even bought a new Avs cap for extra good luck.

Each playoff game is thrilling to watch, since the excitement of the playoffs is ramped up to the max and you can be sure that we will be cheering our hearts out for the Avs.  GO AVS GO!!!

The Dollar Store

When Wen visits her favorite dollar store (which is now a dollar and twenty-five cents store, thanks to inflation), we Scotties are always interested to see what she brings home, because that store really has a variety of merchandise from food to household goods, seasonal decorations, party and office supplies, drug store items and even some clothing.

You never know what she’s going to buy, because she likes to walk up and down the aisles of the store and peruse the merchandise to make sure that she doesn’t overlook any treasures.  We Scotties could end up with a new toy or most likely, some props for a home photo shoot for social media.

Take a look at what she found for me to model on her last trip to the dollar store.  Like I said, you just never know….

April in Colorado

Here we are, having a typical April weekend in Colorado.  It rained yesterday, it’s snowing today, and it’s supposed to be in the 70’s tomorrow.  You never know what to expect!

As for now, our green grass and trees and shrubs that are leafing out are getting pelted with snow.  Just when we thought it was finally spring, we Scotties ran outside and were met with winter weather again.  April in Colorado is crazy!

The line Up

A lot of times when we Scotties realize that Wen is preparing food in the kitchen, we are curious and we have to go see what’s going on.  (You never know when something tasty could fall to the floor).

It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes we actually line up in the order that we arrive and our line up looks intentional, but really it’s not.  We’re basically just hanging out, watching what Wen is doing and if it looks as if we could get a treat, believe me, we would not be sitting in line.  Oh, no, we’d be jumping up and down with excitement!

Job Well Done!

Here is a photo of Jim Miller with his Scottie, Jackie, myself, and Polly Mayo with her Scottie, Bruce at Tartan Days in Longmont, Colorado.

Jackie is a very friendly and sociable Scottie girl and she was eager to have people come up and pet her.  What a great ambassador she was for our breed.

This was Bruce’s first time as a Scottie ambassador, as he is just turning two years old and he did an amazing job of meeting people as they petted him.

What can I say about myself?  I’m used to meeting people and I am so laid back and chill that having strangers come up and pet me is no big deal.

We all received lots of compliments, which were well-deserved, since we were on our best behavior at the festival and I think we, along with the other Scotties who were there with their Scottie club owners, represented ourselves well in educating people about Scottish Terriers and informing them about Scottie rescue.  Job well done!

Tartan Days 2024

This weekend is the annual Tartan Days festival in Longmont, Colorado.  Rocky Mountain Scottie Rescue has a booth at the festival and Scottie club members and their Scotties are working in the booth to meet and greet people and give them information about the breed.

We Scottie ambassadors sit on tables as people come by and pet us while our owners tell them about rescue and Scotties in general.  Wen chose to take me, as I am friendly and very tolerant of strangers and we went with Wen’s friend, Polly and her Scottie, Bruce, who was a Scottie ambassador for the first time and he did very well.  We were pleased to represent our breed to the steady stream of people passing by.

The festival runs through today at the Boulder County Fairgrounds and there are more Scottie club members with their Scotties who are there to say hello and happy to tell you all about Scottish Terriers.
