Our New Dog Bed

Yesterday, Wen went looking for a new dog bed for us Scotties, due to the wear and tear on our old one.  Sadie kept chewing holes in the bottom and I guess Wen got tired of repairing them, because she decided to find us a new one.

Her shopping trip was successful and she brought us a brand new bright red bed with dogs that sort of look like Scotties on it.  The inside is nice and plush and as soon as the bed was in place, Sadie and I had to check it out.  (Molly very rarely hangs out in our dog bed).  It seemed nice and comfy, so the new bed definitely has our approval!

Who Dat???

A strange-looking Scottie appeared in our living room today.  Who dat???  Wen set him down by our front door and naturally we Scotties had to go check him out.

After we did a thorough exam, we determined that he wasn’t real but that he was a nearly life sized inflatable Scottie toy.  He stood there like a statue while we sniffed around and no self-respecting Scottie would tolerate that!

It turns out that Wen saw him at the Scottie club auction and she couldn’t resist bringing him home.  For a moment, the toy was interesting to us Scotties, but after we discovered that although he might have been big, he was not going to move, so we all lost interest and ignored the intruder from then on.

RMSTC Auction

The Rocky Mountain Scottish Terrier Club’s annual auction benefiting Scottie Rescue will be held tomorrow and it’s the biggest event of the year for the club, so excitement’s in the air!

I’ve been snoopervising as Wen collected Scottie themed items to donate for the auction over the past few weeks and organized them in containers.  All three of us Scotties had to check out the items when they were spread out all over our guest bedroom floor, so I guess you could say that everything was Scottie approved!

Hopefully Wen’s donated items will help raise money for the care of the Scottie Rescue dogs.  The auction is the main fundraiser, so let’s cross our paws and fingers that it’s a huge success!

Yucky

It’s cold and rainy and it’s snowing up in the mountains today.  This wet gloomy weather is just plain yucky and it’s the first day that you can tell that winter is on its way.

Wen has been wearing shorts, but not today.  Our furnace kicked in and the fireplace is on for the comfort of us Scotties.  Looks like it’s time to get out some winter accessories, because it may even start snowing here!

Painting Day

Yesterday was painting day at our house.  There were several spots in the kitchen, the living room, and upstairs that Wen wanted to touch up.

First she painted a spot on the ceiling in our upstairs hall.  Then she painted a little spot on the kitchen wall and the window sill over our kitchen sink.  Finally, she painted the trim on the door to our laundry room where I eat my meals and sometimes I get so excited that in my haste, I might scratch at the trim (allegedly).

We Scotties didn’t pay much attention to the painting process, but as Wen was cleaning her paint brushes afterwards, somebody had to go and check out what she had been doing and of course it was Sadie.  Yes, Sadie just had to go and get white paint all over one side of her beard and on one leg.

Wen just shook her head, scooped up Sadie, and brushed and combed Sadie’s hair until nearly all of the paint came out.  For a little while though, Sadie had quite the two-toned look going on!

Fall is Officially Here!

How can you tell that fall is officially here?  It has nothing to do with the date—it’s all about when Wen turns on the fireplace in the morning to warm up our living room and when it starts to get so cold during the night that she finally gives in and turns on the furnace.

Those things may be dead giveaways, but we Scotties really know it’s fall when blankets with Scottie patterns start to appear on the couch for snuggling purposes.  The leaves may have been turning outside, but when those blankets show up, it’s definitely officially fall!

First Fireplace Morning

Today was the first really chilly morning this fall and rather than turn on the furnace to warm our house, Wen turned on our fireplace, which we Scotties love.  There’s nothing like getting cozy in our dog bed in front of the fire and soaking up the heat.

As soon as the fireplace was going, Sadie was stretched out on the floor in front of it, so Wen moved the dog bed to give us something more comfortable to lie on.  Do we love being toasty warm by the fire?  You bet we do!

Casey’s Birthday

Today is the anniversary of Casey’s birthday.  He was born in 1978 and he was Wen and her husband’s Scottie puppy that they brought home after their first Scottie puppy died of congenital heart failure when he was only six months old.

Wen was heartbroken after losing her first puppy and after grieving for several months, they decided that the only thing that would heal her heart was a new puppy, so the search began and a little black Scottie boy was found.

Casey was Wen’s first favorite dog for decades, even though she ended up having lots of dogs.  He was very special to her, maybe because he was her first dog who lived his whole life and that’s why we celebrate his birthday today.  Here’s to you, Casey MacDuff (also known as Casey Mackerdooger Boy)!  You really started our MacDuff clan and because of you and Wen’s love for you, nine more of us Scotties have followed in your footsteps!
