Good Morning!

Here I am!  Good morning!  My every morning face is here to say “hi” as I check to see what you’re doing.  I know that we Scotties just ate, but I wouldn’t mind it if you gave me a treat or scratched my back.  As a matter of fact, I’d like some special attention right now!  I’m still your favorite, right?!

My Favorite Toy

All of us Scotties may not have a favorite toy, but I certainly do.  My absolute favorite is a plush wine bottle with a plastic bottle with a squeaker inside.  I love to bite down on the toy because the bottle inside is nice and crunchy and I bite it until the bottle is flat.  Next, I like to tear up the plush wine bottle cover and chew on the plastic bottle until it’s in pieces and I make such a mess that Wen takes the bottle away and it goes straight to the trash.

I kind of make fast work of destroying my favorite toy and I’m sure that Wen would prefer that the toys last longer, but she knows how much enjoyment I get out of those wine bottle toys, so she keeps buying them for me.  Actually, I think it’s about time for a new one, hint, hint!

The Snoopervisors

Yesterday was the Rocky Mountain Scottish Terrier Club annual Christmas lunch and Wen loaded up her Scottie Christmas crafts that she’s been working on for months and displayed them at the church where the lunch was held.  Evidently the people really liked her crafts, because she came home in a very good mood and with a lot less inventory.

Of course, we Scotties are her snoopervisors when she works on her crafts and we always have to check out everything.  Our kitchen has been the work area for festive Scottie-themed decorations since the end of summer and our guest bedroom has been the storage area, so now things will get back to normal, but you can assure that we Scotties are always in the thick of all things crafting and all finished products get the Scottie stamp of approval—or at least nudged by Scottie noses!

When It Feels Like Winter….

We Scotties tend to spend more time snuggled up together when it feels like winter.  When we come back inside after being out in the freezing weather, we are definitely more apt to end up together on the couch.  To see all three of us together is kind of an unusual sight, but on especially cold days, even Molly will join Sadie and me and that would never happen in the summer!

Kind of a Miracle

We have had a dog bed in front of our fireplace in the winter for years so that we Scotties can enjoy the warmth and Sadie and I have always camped out on there.  Molly, on the other hand, has never shown any interest in hanging out there with the fireplace on—until last night.

Wen could hardly believe it when she looked over and saw Molly stretched out in the dog bed.  What?  That never happens!

Of course, when I saw Molly in my favorite place, I had to go over to reclaim my spot and I knew that Molly wouldn’t want to share the bed with me like Sadie does, because Molly likes her personal space.  All I had to do was go and stand there and she hopped right out so I could settle in.

Will Molly ever try out the dog bed in front of the fireplace again?  Who knows?  It was kind of a miracle that she tried it out in the first place.

Crazy Colorado Weather

A cold front came through late on Thanksgiving and we’ve had snow on and off for two days.  It’s been so cold that it’s actually been harder for us Scotties to dig holes in the grass, but being terriers, we’re very persistent and we’re out in the yard doing our best.

We don’t mind the cold weather or the snow though and we’ll stay outside exploring until Wen comes out to shoo us back inside.  We’re used to the crazy Colorado weather—one day it can be a balmy seventy degrees and the next day we can be playing in the snow.

Home Grooming

My sister, Sadie had to miss her grooming appointment because of her ear hematoma.  Molly and I were groomed, so we were looking good, but poor Sadie was looking scruffy and she needed a bath.  Since our groomer, Gigi was booked until after the holidays and Wen wasn’t comfortable taking Sadie to a different groomer, she decided that she would groom Sadie herself.  She had groomed her Scotties and her Cocker Spaniel years ago and when COVID happened, she bought professional clippers in case our groomer had to close during the pandemic (which fortunately never happened).

Our house isn’t exactly set up for home grooming, but Wen set Sadie on a bathroom counter and went to work on her with her clippers and scissors until Sadie looked like a Scottie again and afterwards, Sadie got a nice warm bath in the kitchen sink.  Her new hairdo wasn’t perfect like when Gigi does her, but Sadie looked pretty good for a home grooming and Wen discovered that if push came to shove, she could make us look decent until our next appointment.
