There are three Wheaties that are much loved at our house. It turns out that “Wheaties” can be defined in different ways, but where we live, no matter what kind of Wheaties you’re talking about, Scotties or cereal, Wheaties are favorites!

Serious Snuggle Time
It doesn’t happen very often, but every once in awhile we three Scotties end up snuggling together on the couch. The reason it happened this time was because Wen left two plush throws on the couch and we took advantage of them being there. No dog is going to pass up the chance to curl up on a thick fluffy throw that feels like the ultimate comfortable spot, so one by one, Molly, Sadie, and I settled in.
When it’s cold outside and we see throws on the couch, we’re there for some serious snuggle time. We may have to paw and kick at the throws until they form an acceptable sleeping nest, but nothing beats a soft poofy throw to stretch out on, especially when somebody forgets to turn on the fireplace!
Early Mornings
The time changed back to Standard Time recently, but we Scotties still seem to be on Daylight Savings Time. Even though Wen keeps us up late to try to help us adjust to the new time, we still wake up at our regular time, which is now an hour earlier. Evidently she doesn’t appreciate my scratching to be let out as soon as I wake up, but if ya gotta go, ya gotta go and as soon as I start scratching, my sisters are awake and ready to go outside also, so Wen is forced to get up and let us out.
The time change seems to affect lots of dogs in that they are ready to be fed an hour early, but that’s not an issue at our house, since we are fed first thing in the morning right after we have been outside and our evening mealtime seems to be more flexible anyway. It’s just our early wake up time that is currently inconveniencing someone, but we’ll gradually get that straightened out over the next couple weeks. Meanwhile, enjoy the early mornings!
Uh-Oh!
Uh-oh! Someone’s been shopping the clearance aisle again. How else would I end up looking like Snoopy, the World War I flying ace? Was this really worth a whole dollar?!
It Keeps It Interesting.
It snowed overnight and we went from a backyard full of tiny leaves to a backyard full of snow. The high winds before the snow created a leaf raking chore for Wen, but of course we Scotties had a good time checking out the piles of leaves and we snooped through every pile before she could bag up the leaves.
We have a real variety of weather conditions in Colorado this time of year. One day we’re basking in the 70 degree sunshine, happily digging holes and the next day we’re plowing through the snow, trying to find the holes we’ve dug. I’ll tell you one thing though—it keeps it interesting!
Happy Halloween!
It’s October 31 and that means one thing—it’s Halloween! The neighborhood is decorated with Jack-o’-lanterns, skeletons, and ghosts for this special spooky night. Everybody get your costumes ready for some fun trick or treating. Happy Halloween from Molly, Sadie, and me! Have lots of fun and be safe!
Hey, Sadie!
Hey, Sadie! Do you know what tomorrow is? It’s Halloween and that means that kids will dress up in costumes and go trick or treating. They will walk around the neighborhood, ring doorbells, and ask for treats. What a great idea! How about we Scotties dress up in costumes so we can get extra treats?
First Snow of the Season
What was supposed to be a chance of snow turned out to be the first snow of the season as rain turned to snow and it kept snowing for hours. It was a fun surprise for us Scotties to make tracks across the deck and around the yard for the first time since last spring!
MVP
We received an email from Petsmart to make a football player card on their website. Of course Wen was interested and she chose a photo from our vast photo library to customize. It was a fun process and I have to say that I look pretty good as an MVP on a card!
Fall Color
The trees and bushes are turning colors in our backyard, so we have some beautiful yellows and reds right now. Wen’s favorite is one of the burning bushes that turns brilliant shades of red each fall.
That particular bush is in the area that is fenced off so that the grass can grow without us Scotties digging holes, but whenever a section of the fence is removed during yard work, I like to sneak over there and snoop around…..until I get caught! Someone doesn’t appreciate it when I mark my territory over there!
