Who’s ready?

“Okay, you Scotties, it’s time to go get brushed out!  Who’s ready to get their hair and teeth brushed?”  (Nobody).  We do this every morning and it’s part of our daily routine, but as you can see, there is a total lack of enthusiasm.  “Okay, let’s go get brushed out!  Who’s ready?”  (Nobody).

Nobody’s ready.

Arooooooo!

What do Scotties say when they’re howling?  Arooooooo!  I don’t howl very often, but when I do, it’s a healthy loud arooooooo.

It takes a lot to make me howl, but sometimes, if Sadie starts howling, or if Wen makes a howling noise to get us going, I’ll join in.  Molly rarely howls, but there is one thing that inspires all three of us Scotties to let ‘er rip and that’s when we are in our cages upstairs and we hear the garage door go up.  For some reason, as soon as that door starts to go up, we all howl like there’s no tomorrow to make sure that Wen knows we’re still here.  Yeah, as if she’d ever forget about us, but we can’t take any chances and a nice chorus of arooooooos makes our presence known.  It’s our “hey, you’re home, so you can let us out now” signal.   In contrast, the front doorbell makes us bark like fiends, but the sound of the garage door is music to our ears and an invitation for arooooooos!

Arooooooo!

Two Rainy Days

Here we are, snuggled up inside on another rainy day.  We Scotties have spent more time inside than usual, due to two rainy days in a row.  It’s the first official day of fall with the equinox tonight and it sure feels like it with the cool weather and rain showers.

The ground outside is super wet and squishy, which makes for easy hole digging and as per usual, Molly and I got in trouble earlier this morning when Wen noticed that we were going to town digging.  We can’t help ourselves, because let me remind you that we are Scottish TERRIERS and we earth dogs have digging in our DNA.  A rainy day doesn’t deter us from digging—it just makes it easier!

I have a sneaky feeling that we won’t have much opportunity to dig holes with the constant rain showers and mist, so we Scotties will enjoy our snuggle time inside and with any luck, Wen will turn on the fireplace and put our dog bed next to it.  After all, it IS that time of year!

Some Things Never Change.

So here’s a little more on Scottie uncomfortable-looking positions.  The other morning, I was spending some time on the loveseat relaxing and I was hanging my head over the arm as I was stretched out.  This seems to be a common thing for us Scotties to do, but it is a habit that seems to perplex our humans, because they don’t understand how we can sleep in this position.

I’m here to tell you though that I have been able to sleep on the couch or the loveseat with my head hanging over the side ever since I grew into an adult dog and I still do it. Some things never change and hanging my head is obviously one of them.

How Can This Be Comfortable?

Every morning, we Scotties find a spot on the couch or the loveseat to catch a morning snooze while Wen watches the news on TV.  Sometimes we seem to end up in peculiar positions that don’t look as if they could possibly be comfortable, such as hanging our heads or positioning ourselves upside down.

We Scotties’ positions can make people wonder “how can this possibly be comfortable?”  What can I say?  What may look awkward to people is just normal to us!

A True Classic

Some stories are classics and as far as dog stories go, Lady and the Tramp is a true classic story and movie.  Who could not enjoy enduring all that Lady has to go through to have a happy ending and her personality, as well as Tramp’s and those of her friends, Jock the Scottie and Trusty the bloodhound are portrayed exactly like their breeds in real life.

Yes, Lady and the Tramp has been a favorite for decades and will always be a favorite.  Who wouldn’t love this classic dog story?

Couch Potato Morning

For the first time in a long time, it’s a cool and rainy day.  After the heatwave we’ve been having, a dreary day is perfect for one thing:  being couch potatoes, so we Scotties are spending the morning snuggled up on the couch and the love seat.  I have to say that sometimes a couch potato morning hits the spot!
