So yesterday was Mardi Gras and since we like to celebrate holidays at our house, I had to participate. Okay, let’s just say that I’m a really good sport and it seemed appropriate that any day known as Fat Tuesday deserved a little celebration.

Serious Sunshine
So after nearly a week of below zero temperatures, the weather finally warmed up and we got some serious sunshine, so instead of trudging through snow, we Scotties spent time in the yard soaking up the sun. The only bad thing was thanks to all that sunshine, as the snow melted, you could see all the holes that we had dug previously and Wen wasn’t too thrilled about the Swiss cheese look of our yard. Oops! Now that the ground isn’t frozen, it’s even easier for us to dig holes, so as we’re enjoying the sunshine the next few days, we will undoubtedly get the urge to dig and we’ll have to be sneaky so we don’t get in trouble. What’s a few more holes when you’re out enjoying the sunshine?!
Scottie Eyes Are Watching You!
Nothing much gets past watching Scottie eyes. Just when you think you are doing something that we won’t notice, think again! Not only are we your best buddies, but we are your protectors too, so we like to keep track of what’s going on.
Scottie eyes are watching you!
Big Sister Sunny
Our big Scottie sister, Sunny has been gone for over two years now and she was a huge part of our life. Since she was the senior member of our clan by seven years, she was like our adopted mom and Molly, Sadie, and I learned all kinds of things from following Sunny around.
When she went outside to do her business, Sunny taught us all the meaning of “going outside” and because of her, we lined up for our meals and for treats. She was a great role model for hair coat brushing, toenail trimming, and teeth brushing and nothing seemed to bother her, so none of us had an anxiety about going for car rides, to the vet or the groomer, or the loud noises of thunderstorms or fireworks.
Yep, we were lucky to have had our big sister Sunny and since she’s been gone, we’ve been without our fearless leader and things have never quite been the same.
Minus Two Degrees
This morning when we Scotties went outside, it wasn’t long before we all began to limp through the snow, due to our frozen paws. That made sense when we found out that the temperature was only minus two degrees!
Wen made quick work of clearing the snow from the driveway, sidewalk, and deck while we Scotties watched from inside and by the time she came in, her fingertips were freezing cold, so all of us headed over to the fireplace.
On a frigid day like this, there’s no better spot for us to enjoy a lazy morning than stretched out in front of the fireplace. Let the snoozing begin!
A Clearance Find
Since Wen has been a crafter for decades, she occasionally snoops around in Hobby Lobby and Michaels to keep up with new crafting trends. How does this affect us Scotties? Well, for example, the other day, she stopped by a Michaels store and found that there were tons of items in the 80% off Christmas clearance aisles. Here it is, the middle of February and the store was full of Christmas items.
Of course she had to peruse the sale merchandise, because 80% was an unusually good markdown and what was her clearance find for $1.30 including tax? Yep, lucky me—a Scottie Christmas light show.
Another Scottie throw?
I see that we have another new throw for the couch with Scotties on it. We have quite a collection already. Did you really buy another Scottie throw? And how come there aren’t any wheaten Scotties on it?!
Here We Be, Just Us Three….
Here we be, just us three Scotties hanging out together in our nice warm house while it’s snowing outside. We just made a trip to the backyard and the flakes are flying, so now we’re snuggling up on our favorite plush blanket on the couch.
All three of us together in one spot is highly unusual, so Wen took our picture to remember the moment. Chances are very slim that it will happen again soon, so you know what they say, “You snooze, you lose!” Meanwhile, we Scotties will enjoy each others’ company for a few more seconds until one of us jumps down or more of us jump down off the couch. After all, it’s almost dinner time!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Hearts day is here! Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! Spread the love!
More White Overnight
Yep, we got more white stuff overnight. It started snowing yesterday afternoon and kept on snowing, so we woke up to at least six inches of fluffy snow for us Scotties to navigate our way through. Wen did a preliminary shoveling of our deck and driveway late last night, so it wouldn’t be such a chore for her this morning, but another couple of inches accumulated overnight and we Scotties once again had to make new paths to our favorite spots in the yard. It seems as if that white stuff is keeping all of us busy these days.
