Back in the day, the Rocky Mountain Scottish Terrier Club had an annual Halloween party. Members were invited to bring their Scotties and dress them in Halloween costumes for a parade of Scotties. Prizes were given for the best costumes and one year when I was just a pup, Wen decorated our wagon to look like a tank and she made camouflage outfits for Kirby, Sunny, and me. We had hats, shirts, and even dog tags with our names to wear with our costumes. We Scotties practiced riding in the tank (wagon) in our costumes and Wen was confident that we would be fine riding around in the parade.
The day of the Halloween party, there were lots of Scotties in festive costumes and Wen had us dressed, sitting in the tank, and ready to go for the parade. There was only one problem: I refused to stay seated in the tank and I jumped out over and over, so Wen finally put me in my crate while Captain Kirby and Sergeant Sunny rode in the tank like pros for the parade. Yes, I missed the entire parade and all I can say is at the time, I had no excuse for my behavior. Pups will be pups!
Sadly, this was Kirby’s last Halloween party. Two weeks later, he lost his nearly three year battle with bladder cancer.
