Just as Wen was taking a picture of Sadie the other day, Molly appeared out of nowhere. It seems that Molly is a fan of photo bombing and in this case, her photo bomb was very successful!
If It Weren’t for Bad Luck….
As the saying goes, if it weren’t for bad luck, we’d have no luck all! We seem to be having a stretch of bad luck with our house right now. The water heater ruptured and flooded our finished basement, the window wells let in water and soaked our new carpet, and now the sump pump bit it. A tornado hit our neighborhood and damaged the paint and windows on our house and we lost a third of a tree in our backyard. You’d think that was enough, but we had a bad storm during the night and water poured in through the basement windows from the window wells AGAIN. Wen has done nothing but clean up inside and out, but we’re working on getting things repaired, so hopefully everything will work out. Keep your fingers and paws crossed!
We Scotties are Wen’s support system, so we’re being extra good and extra cute for her right now. Just look at Sadie being all cute with her tilted head!
Those Scottie Eyes!
It seems that people think we dogs have expressive eyes and we do! We Scotties have a well known assortment of expressions, such as the eye roll, guilty eyes, and the stink eye. Know one thing though: no matter what emotions our eyes are expressing, those Scottie eyes are watching you!
We Have a Winner!
My sister, Molly has discovered the large throw pillow on the loveseat. She normally perches on top of one of the loveseat arms, but now that she has tried out the big plush pillow, she’s found a new favorite spot to stretch out.
Molly is the first one of us Scotties to lay on the pillow and it seems that she has staked her claim. The pillow is just her size and it is softer than the loveseat arm, so I think we have a winner!
Cleanup
So our yard cleanup of the tornado damage continues. Wen worked hard yesterday with the leaf blower and by sawing big tree limbs into smaller limbs. She was able to carry all the limbs and branches around the house to the driveway and then cleanup the yard more with the lawnmower. Next will be a big raking job of the raised area in the backyard and the bush and flower beds. What a project for us Scotties to supervise!
A Tornado Blew Through.
A tornado blew through our town yesterday afternoon. Our house wasn’t directly in its path, but the high winds and hail did some damage to our house and tore off a huge part of a tree in our backyard, which landed on another tree. Water poured in our finished basement windows, so Wen spent hours with the shop vac getting as much as she could out of the carpet. Then she positioned four fans to blow onto the wet carpet. Next, she worked on the giant part of the tree that was stuck in the other tree. She worked until dark, cutting off limbs so that she could finally drag the huge limb, which was a third of the tree, out from the other tree. With the huge limb on the ground, she kept trimming off little limbs until the the pile of smaller limbs was gigantic. I suppose that she will spend today sawing and cutting up all the limbs into manageable piles for the trash.
The hail that we got with the tornado damaged the paint and the windows and there was one little leak from the roof, but the good news is that we are all okay. There may be a big clean-up, but we’re grateful that it wasn’t worse!
Photo Shoot Day
Today was the day! My photo shoot for the Colorado Pet Pantry 2024 calendar was this morning at Red Rocks and it started off early. Wen got all of us up at 5 AM so she had enough time to feed us and brush our teeth and our hair, since all three of us Scotties were going to the shoot. Kris Phillips, the photographer offered to take photos of the girls after I posed for calendar pictures and Wen eagerly accepted her offer.
We met Kris at a parking lot by Red Rocks Amphitheater and the only glitch was some workmen using loud industrial leaf blowers, so we went to the opposite end of the parking lot to do my shoot. Then, Wen got Molly out of the car and the loud noise scared her pretty badly, so we moved to a parking lot that was located far away from any noise.
Kris suggested that she take pictures of Sadie first in order to give Molly some time to calm down and Sadie was fairly cooperative so that went well. Wen switched Sadie with Molly and Kris was very patient and had Wen walk Molly around until she felt more at ease and she took lots of pictures of her.
So, it was photo shoot day for all three of us Scotties and lucky me, I won a goodie basket from Colorado Pet Pantry for being a calendar winner and a basket of goodies and a dog pool for winning the most votes during Week 4 of the contest. Wow, tons of goodies for all three of us to share! A big thanks to Kris for her photographic expertise and to Colorado Pet Pantry for all the goodies! And now we’re back home after our big day, settling down for quality naps.
Wag N’ Wash Day
Since we Scotties are going for a photo shoot in two days and we sort of got muddy, Wen took us all to Wag N’ Wash, the do it yourself dog wash. It was too hot outside for us to wait our turns in the car, so she had to take us one at a time. Yes, three Scotties, three trips, and three baths and blow outs which took exactly three hours.
After this Wag N’ Wash day, you’d almost come to the conclusion that we’re high maintenance!
Sadie’s Scottie Shenanigans
My sister, Sadie is often described to people as a goofball by Wen. She has a silly social personality and there isn’t a mean bone in her body. You’d never guess that Sadie recently turned eight years old, because she still acts like a puppy and she loves everyone.
Sadie’s antics seem to provide constant photo opportunities and she never fails to keep the rest of us entertained with her Scottie shenanigans. It’s nice to have a goofball around here!
Some Vacation!
The other day, Wen and her friend drove to Kansas to go antiquing and see the sights. What happens when she goes out of town and she can’t take us Scotties? You guessed it, we go to the kennel.
Our kennel is located at a huge animal hospital and there are dogs barking 24/7, so let’s just say that we don’t get much rest there and for us (especially Molly) it’s more of a traumatic experience than a vacation.
Every time that we board, as soon as Wen brings us home, we Scotties crash on the couch to catch up on our sleep and this time was no exception. We got home around noon, hit the couch, and we only woke up to eat and go outside. The next day, we were still tired and we spent most of the day on the couch.
Sadie tried to bark when Wen picked us up, but she was so hoarse from barking at the dogs in the kennel that she quickly gave up. The three of us haven’t been so exhausted since the last time that we boarded, thank you very much! Some vacation! It will take us days to recover!
