Walkin’ the Wall

What is something that we Scotties have a habit of doing every day, except when there’s a lot of snow? We walk along the backyard railroad tie wall. Yes, walkin’ the wall is our daily duty and what are we doing up there? We jump up there to walk along the fence that keeps us out of the area where there are rose bushes and landscaping bark.

All three of us like to chew on pieces of landscaping bark (probably not the best idea, but we’re obsessed with chewing) and this is the only place in the yard where we can get close enough to pull pieces through the fence.

Wen has done her best to limit our access to the pieces of bark, but we Scotties are a stubborn bunch and we continually challenge her by finding ways to access the bark. It seems that nothing—not even a fence—will keep us from our bark quest and you’ll see us walkin’ the wall multiple times day and night!

There Are Toys and There Are TOYS!

As far as dog toys go, I decided a long time ago that there are toys and there are TOYS! I’m not normally a huge fan of dog toys, but there is one exception that really keeps me entertained.

Yes, I love a plush bottle-shaped toy that has a plastic bottle inside for me to crunch on. Every time that Wen brings one home, I’m the first one to grab it. Molly and Sadie don’t have a chance to play with a bottle toy, because I will claim it and guard it with my life. All bottle toys become my property and I crunch on them until I have destroyed the plastic bottles inside as well as their plush coverings and Wen has to confiscate them and throw them in the trash so that none of us Scotties can eat any pieces.

My sisters can have their plush squeaky toys and their hard plastic and rubber toys. Give me a bottle toy to crunch any time. Like I said, there are toys and there are TOYS!

Monsoon Season

Last week felt like monsoon season here. We actually got a month’s worth of rain in a few days and we Scotties had a little case of cabin fever, since Wen limited our outdoor time during the rain.

We ate, we drank, we slept, we played with our treat ball, but after days of rain there were times when we thought “what now?”
Thank goodness the sun is finally out!

What now?

Another Soggy Rainy Day

It’s been raining for two days and we scotties are starting to feel like the soggy dogs. We woke up this morning to another soggy rainy day and since we’ve been outside in the rain, we’re starting to look scruffy with our wet haircoats.

The best thing about rainy days is that the spots where Wen has put down grass seed and new dirt to repair the holes we’ve dug have turned to little mud pits and I think that we’ve walked through them all. You know what that means—fun for us, but muddy paws that aren’t exactly appreciated.

Come on, sun. It’s time for sone sunshine!

It’s another soggy rainy day and now I feel like someone’s watching me!

Molly’s Favorite Spots

Molly has a few favorite spots around our house where she likes to hang out. She spends time every morning perched on top of my wire cage and she also spends lots of time stretched out on her preferred end of the love seat in the living room. The piano seems to provide her with a cave-like shelter, because you can often find her sitting on the floor underneath it.

Sadie and I have spots in our house that we frequent, but our habits aren’t quite as carved in stone as Molly’s. Any old spot on the couch or loveseat is just fine with us, whereas Molly definitely has her favorites. On the other hand, Sadie and I enjoy stretching out in our plush dog beds in front of the fireplace during the winter and Molly has yet to try them out. I suppose our differences are what make us all unique!

The Sadie Slurp

Sadie is a very fastidious dog. She likes to be clean and her tongue gets lots of slurping action. It’s not easy to get a picture of her fast moving tongue, but every once in awhile, you can get lucky when she’s licking her lips and then you have actual evidence of the Sadie slurp.

It’s Coronation Day!

It’s Coronation Day in London! Enormous crowds of British people have come out to see King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the royal family make their first appearance after the coronation. The British people really know how to celebrate with incredible pomp and pageantry. It’s the first coronation in 70 years and what a special day! Hurray for the U.K!
