Taking Advantage

We Scotties will definitely take advantage of a situation and our eagle eyes are constantly on the lookout. For example, the other night, Wen was folding laundry and she set a freshly laundered crate pad on the love seat for a minute while she gathered up things to take upstairs.

There it was, a crate pad all by itself on the loveseat and what do we Scotties do with our crate pads? We curl up or stretch out on them. It doesn’t matter where they are. Crate pads are there for us to make ourselves comfortable, so that’s exactly what Molly and I did. We found a crate pad that didn’t belong on the love seat, but we weren’t going to pass up an opportunity to take advantage of the situation, so we settled in on it.

Besties

My sister, Molly and I are besties. We may have come from breeders in different states, but we were born three weeks apart, we were puppies together, and we grew up together with our big sister, Sunny.

Sadie came along two years later and even though she likes to snuggle with me sometimes and we three get along great, Molly and I have always had a special bond. I guess we’re just two little wheaties who get each other.

Sadie the Sentinel

Early in the morning, when Wen first lets us Scotties out in the yard, we have a routine that we follow in doing our business and exploring. Part of our routine is that we watch for squirrels and birds that we consider intruders to our property.

Actually, my sisters are the most diligent at keeping watch and Sadie has the extra added attraction of arooing loudly when she spots an intruder, so she is a good sentinel. Sometimes she gets so excited with her arooing that Wen has to shush her so that she isn’t a nuisance to the neighbors, but Sadie loves to howl and sound the intruder watning when she is on duty and I think that she enjoys a good arooo!

Gimme That Sunshine!

We’re ready for some spring weather and lucky us, we’re getting some right now until the snow comes back.

Gimme that sunshine! I know that you’re just teasing us with these warm days and that we’re technically in the middle of what’s supposed to be our snowiest months, but we Scotties are really enjoying ourselves outside right now. Warm weather makes for perfect hole digging and squirrel chasing conditions!

Gimme that sunshine!

Watching What Happens

My sister, Molly likes to hang out on the landing of the staircase that goes from our living room to upstairs. She plops down on the landing and her front legs hang over the top stair. I guess that sometimes she likes to be up there and have a higher view of what’s going on downstairs, because she lays up there for awhile and just watches. Sadie and I never hang out up there, but the landing is Molly’s favorite high perch for watching what happens. I think she has staked her claim.

Yep, It’s Me!

The 2023 Up Country Inc. catalog was posted on their website yesterday and yep, it’s me in the catalog! My photo won the most votes in their Up For Stardom nationwide photo contest last fall and one of my prizes was a photo shoot for their next catalog.

Wen found a wonderful photographer, Kris Phillips of Furever Friends Photography (now located in Idaho) and we braved freezing cold and windy conditions on Lookout Mountain, just west of Denver to do my photo shoot last December. Our favorite photos were submitted to Up Country and we waited with great anticipation to see which photos they would choose.

First, Wen found my photo in the online catalog with the other two winners who were chosen by the Up Country staff. Then, she found a picture of me modeling a patterned collar and leash.

The best surprise though was when one of Wen’s friends called to tell her to check out the Up Country blog. When Wen clicked on the blog, my picture came up on the Meet the Winners page and another picture with my profile that Wen had submitted was underneath the first picture, along with pictures of the other two winners. Yep, there I was! All our effort of entering the photo contest, finding a photographer, doing the photo shoot, and submitting the photos finally paid off and now we just have to wait for our copy of the print catalog to come in the mail.

A New Hat

Question: What can brighten up the dreariest day? (Even a cold cloudy day with freezing rain that definitely needs a pick-me-up?) Answer: a brand new colorful hat!

Once again, someone was perusing clearance merchandise and she found a gem of a brightly colored winter cap on close-out for nearly nothing. And who did she think of?
Me, me, lucky me!

Suspicious

Whenever Wen sees one or more of us Scotties lurking in the bedroom closet, she immediately gets suspicious. It’s not as though we’re banned from the closet—it’s more like she’s wondering what we’re up to in there.

Normally when she spots us, we hear something like “What are you doing in there?” or “What’s going on in there?” and we’re probably just sniffing around, but she is probably right to be suspicious, due to past untoward behavior like carpet chewing or leaving urine spots. Even if we’ve mended our ways, those past “oops” situations seem to be sticking with us forever!

Sadie, what are you doing in there?
