Bye bye! Welcome Back!

This morning, Wen put away the last of our Christmas decorations.  Basically, that meant taking down the Christmas tree.  We Scotties supervised as she removed the ornaments and put them back in their boxes.  Then, she took apart the sparkly tree, wrapped it in bubble wrap, and wrestled it back into its box.

There was some excitement when two of the glass ornaments fell from the tree and shattered on the floor.  Wen made very sure that we nosy Scotties kept our distance while she swept up the sharp little pieces, so that none of us could hoover them up.  Then, she swept and swept to get the glitter from the tree off the floor.  Before we knew it, the tree was back in its spot in the garage and the boxes of ornaments were stacked in the basement closet with the rest of the holiday decorations.

The space the Christmas tree occupied by the fireplace always looks bare after the tree is taken down, but all is not lost.  Wen moved the spiral tree (which also has lights) back next to the fireplace and since it is there the rest of the year when it’s not the holidays, we still have a tree in that spot.  Bye bye, Christmas tree! Welcome back, spiral tree!  It’s not quite the same, but a tree’s a tree!
