What is more entertaining to a dog (other than something to eat) than when a fly gets into the house?
One came in through the patio door the other day and captured all three of us Scotties’ attention. We were fixated on it as it flew around the room and Sunny actually snapped at it as it seemed to dive bomb us. Molly chased it around the room and every time it landed on the window blinds, she jumped up on the furniture to try to nab it.
None of us had any luck catching the fly and Wen was relieved when she opened the patio door and it flew out, because it was such a nuisance and it had us acting kind of crazy.
Evidently years ago, Buffy, Wen’s Cocker Spaniel, had a fascinating fly experience. A fly was flying around their living room in Texas and Wen noticed that Buffy was sitting very still on the floor, except her head was swiveling around as she tracked the fly’s whereabouts. She watched and waited for the longest time until Wen heard a loud “snap.” The fly had flown a little too close to Buffy and she snapped it up and swallowed it.
It seems as though Buffy was more patient and a little smarter about catching her prey than the three of us Scotties were!
