The other night, Wen was playing the piano and I was camped out on the couch listening. All of a sudden, Wen looked up and noticed that one of my ears looked red, so she called me over to take a look at it.
At the time, I was all comfortable in my spot on the couch, so I just looked at her and didn’t move. See, I can be stubborn! Was I being called to come and get a treat? No. Was I being called over for for a backscratch? No. Was it worth my while to leave my spot on the couch to have her look in my ear? No. Besides, I knew what was going to eventually happen: she would get up from the piano, pick me up, take me upstairs, look in my ear, clean it out, and put medicine in it.
Was I stubborn? Yes. Was I right? Yes, and after a short intermission during which my ear was cleaned and treated, I was returned to the couch and the piano music continued.
