When Kirby was about 11 years old, Wen planned a short vacation to Glenwood Springs, Colorado. She decided to take him along since Kirby needed fluids, special food, and medication because of his bladder cancer and at that point, Wen really didn’t feel comfortable about boarding him in a kennel.
Kirby had always been a good traveler, so Wen packed his dog supplies and off they went on their road trip across Colorado. The spring weather cooperated and was perfect for a road trip and in a few hours, they were in Glenwood to see the sights and enjoy the scenery.
Kirby, as usual, was a real trooper and Wen was happy that she could take him somewhere fun where they had never been before and he could still enjoy new experiences. Even at his advanced age and with his extra care, Kirby was one of those dogs who was an ideal traveling buddy. He loved riding in the car and was always happy to receive attention and pets from people that they met.
Their few days of vacation were a whirlwind of activity that ended all too soon, but Wen will always have great memories of her road trip to Glenwood with her favorite Scottie, Kirby.
