Wen and her husband weren’t exactly experienced dog owners back in the day when they lived in Texas and just had one Scottie, Casey. As with anything, they learned a lot through experience and also from the mistakes that they made.
One day, Casey had done something untoward and Wen’s husband yelled at him and chased him through the house. Casey must have been scared, because he ran into a bedroom and dived under the bed.
Wen’s husband was still yelling as he got down on the floor and reached under the bed to grab Casey and pull him out. Evidently, Casey perceived the waving arm with the hand reaching for him as a threat and since he was pretty much cornered, he reacted as a fearful dog and he bit the hand that was reaching for him.
Wen and her husband (who had tooth marks on his hand) quickly learned that day not to yell and wave your arm at your scared dog who has sought refuge under the bed or you may experience dire consequences! Lesson learned.
