Lickers and Chewers

Some of the MacDuff Scotties have been compulsive lickers and some have been destructive chewers.  Back in the day, Casey chewed holes in the dining room walls and was busted when he met Wen at the front door with a white nose.  Being a solid black Scottie, it was obvious that he had been up to no good!

Duffy was a compulsive floor licker.  No matter where he lived, he devoted a ridiculous amount of time to his to his licking hobby, especially if there was carpet.

When Kirby was a young dog, he went through a phase where he chewed on wooden chair and table legs, which definitely did not go over well!  He also did a little bit of licking on the carpeted floors later in life.

Sunny, on the other hand, prefers to lick textured walls.  She fortunately hasn’t damaged any walls like her “sister,” Frosty, who sneakily chewed down to the drywall on corners of walls while Wen was out of the room.

All three of us Scotties now get in trouble when we get caught licking the walls or the carpet.  Molly and I chewed holes in our living room carpet and Sunny eventually joined us. The carpet was old and scheduled to be replaced, but we constantly got in trouble because not only did we chew holes in the carpet, but we actually swallowed the carpet fibers.  The only thing that finally stopped us was replacing the carpet with hardwood floors, but our opportunities haven’t totally disappeared because there’s still some carpet upstairs!
