My sister, Molly, can jump higher with less effort than the rest of us. She jumps so high that it’s as though she has springs in her legs! It’s part of Molly’s daily routine to jump up and lie on the top of my cage every morning to wait her turn for teeth and haircoat brushing and she is the only one of us Scotties who can jump up on Wen’s bed, which is higher than the average bed.
Today, for the first time, Molly jumped up on the storage box on our deck, which was quite a feat, since the box is not that big. Not only is she as agile as a mountain goat with her jumping, but she has good aim and perfect balance! After she jumped up on the box, she stood up and put her paws on the deck rail and surveyed the neighbor’s yard. Then she turned around and jumped down, all with absolutely no effort. It’s no wonder that Molly is the only one of us who can jump back and forth from the couch to the love seat without a thought, while I have to stop and consider my every move before I try to jump. Maybe Molly likes to be up somewhere higher to get a different perspective. After all, we Scotties are well known for our short stature and it must be a nice change to be able to look down on things, instead of always looking up!
