We had a good snowstorm here the other night, but it was nothing compared to the Denver blizzard that started on December 24, 1982.
Wen, her husband, and their three dogs, Casey, Buffy, and Poo were living here at that time and it started snowing on Christmas Eve and didn’t stop until there was an accumulation of anywhere from two to four feet.
The snow piled up and the dogs were literally walking on top of huge drifts in the backyard. One time, Wen let them out and when she went to let them back in, all three had vanished from their backyard. The snow had drifted so high next to their four foot fence that the dogs had walked over the fence and into the neighbor’s yard!
It turned out to be a really white Christmas that year and it took several days before any vehicles could plow a path down their street and even more days of shoveling to eventually clear their driveway.
Casey, Buffy, and Poo probably enjoyed the blizzard of 1982 the most though, exploring on top of what turned out to be about thirty inches of snow in their yard.
