Nothing motivates us Scotties like food. When Wen asks us if we want a treat or if we’re ready to eat, we will line up and eagerly sit at attention.
No matter what we’re doing, when we hear the sound of food being poured into our dog bowls, when the Milkbone box rattles, or when Wen picks up a bag of treats, we come running.
The fastest way to get us to come in from outside is to shake that Milkbone box. It seems to work every time!
Yes, we are a food-motivated crew and we will literally run into our big wire cages when treats are tossed in there.
Wen uses treats all the time to refresh our obedience commands and it’s amazing how three goofballs can become brilliant all of a sudden when treats are involved.
The sound of ice being dispensed from the refrigerator freezer will also grab our attention and we will run into the kitchen to snarf up pieces of crushed ice, which is our next-best thing to a treat.
It’s lucky for Wen that the food’s the thing for us, because three independent Scotties will suddenly become very cooperative and actually captivated at the possibility of food!
