We haven’t had many plush toys around here since we Scotties have a tendency to rip them apart and eat the stuffing and various pieces that we have torn off. Toys that can easily be destroyed are pretty much kept to a minimum because Wen is always watching out for potential hazards.
Now that five month old Sadie is here (and teething), a few plush toys have appeared for her to chew on so that she doesn’t gnaw on the furniture. The new toys have been sturdy, but as they eventually are destroyed, they get thrown away.
Last week, as Wen was putting chewed toys in the trash, she noticed that a Snoopy toy was missing its nose. She searched the house for the missing pom pom nose and when she couldn’t find it, she feared the worst: one of us Scotties had eaten it.
About four days later, no one had shown any ill effects from eating a pom pom nose foreign body until little Sadie began to vomit and voila, there was the nose.
Sadie was lucky this time and Wen was relieved that the mystery of the missing nose was solved. Needless to say, all of the similar plush toys were thrown in the trash to eliminate any future toy part consuming incidents.
