We Survived

Well, we Scotties survived another 4th of July without too many anxious moments.

A year ago, we had a very peaceful and quiet Fourth and Wen was hoping for another one this year, but it didn’t exactly happen.  A family that lives a few houses up the street decided to put on their own fireworks show and as soon as it got dark, the pops and bangs started and they continued until about ten o’clock.

Wen had put three crates in our basement family room in anticipation of a loud evening of neighborhood fireworks, but we ended up sticking it out upstairs with the TV volume turned up.

Sunny and I were less affected, but Molly, of course, was anxious and bothered by the firecrackers.  She stayed close to Wen until the loud noises pretty much stopped and it was safe and quiet enough for us to go outside.

The Fourth is a fun, festive, patriotic holiday and we are proud to celebrate being Americans, but it can also be a stressful day for pets who don’t understand and appreciate all of the noise from the fireworks.  Confidentially, we are relieved that it is over and we hope that the neighbors used up all of their firecrackers last night!
