The other day, Wen was going through her Scottie photos from years past and she came across some of her favorite Halloween costume photos. We Scotties usually don’t wear group costumes, but one year, the Rocky Mountain Scottish Terrier Club was having a Halloween party with a costume contest and Wen came up with a group themed costume idea for Kirby, Sunny, and Frosty. She decided to dress them like The Village People and she scoured the stores for appropriate dog costumes. Fortunately, one store had a police costume and a construction worker costume that would fit Sunny and Kirby. Wen thought that an Indian costume would be perfect to round out the group, but she had no luck in locating one, so she bought a toddler’s Indian shirt and a feather headdress. She figured that she could alter the shirt and the headdress to fit Frosty and even though she’s no seamstress, she somehow made them work.
On the day of the Halloween party, Wen dressed up her Scottie trio and played a “Y.M.C.A.” recording as the judges walked by. They ended up winning best group costume and the club members swarmed around them, taking pictures as if they were on the red carpet. It was a proud moment for Wen and her Scottie Village People and those costumes are still her all-time favorite Halloween costumes to this day.
